  • I feel somewhat compelled to pen a short update on this place. It's been quite a while and as the temperatures have heated up, we've gotten to be more frequent customers of this place again, after having taken a break in the winter. While it's nice that this place is still around and thriving, I have to say that somehow the consistency and the quality of the food has lapsed. I don't know if I'd attribute it to the (seemingly) high turnover in the employees or what, but it's gotten to where I can't really ignore it anymore. Specifically, there are some serious consistency issues in the products they serve. Sometimes the misto shakes come out tasting like pure sugar, and almost always when prepared by the same employee (sorry, didn't catch his name). I swear it's like drinking pure sugar, to the point where I have thrown mine away because I could feel my teeth rotting with every slurp. Other times, you find that the product isn't properly mixed up, so you end up with some portion being drinkable and the rest of it basically just your everyday gas station slurpee-effect, where you can poke a straw through it but it's just chunky ice pack and not liquid enough to be drawn up the straw. If I can't drink half the product, what am I paying for? That brings me to another point - sometimes things come out too runny. The last few times I've gotten a milk shake, for example, half of it was this sloppy, runny mess. I was tempted to ask the employee if he mistook my order of a chocolate shake for a chocolate milk, because that's basically what he gave me. To add insult to injury, you almost always find this glob of inedible, super thick, un-mixed goo at the bottom. Again, what am I paying for when part of the product must be thrown away? You serve it with a straw so I expect to be able to consume it as such. Am I being unrealistic? I kind of don't think so. To be fair, there are instances where we've gotten really, fantastically good misto shakes. I've even made the comment to my wife that they are better than they've been in a long time. But, inevitably, subsequent visits end up disappointing more often than not. Quality should be the rule, not the exception, right? I hate to say it but this isn't a hard job to get right. At the prices they charge, one really shouldn't have to plan on having to throw away a portion of the product just about every other time you go there. I'll still visit now and then and try my luck, but this is getting old, and quickly. I'm noticing fewer and fewer people at this location whenever I go, despite the weather, so I can only wonder if some of them are finding the same issues?
