My visit to Paul Martin was like going on a roller coaster ride. At the start, my expectations were high (good service and management) based on what I've heard from prior customers. At the peak of the "ride" (the prime rib), it was enjoyable. The prime rib was cooked perfectly at medium-rare and seasoned well. Near the end, I was disarmed by poor service (incompetent and rude waiter) and gross ice cream (specifically the gingerbread and chocolate flavors. I couldn't eat it.) -- to the point where I just wanted to get out of there or risk vomiting from disappointment and annoyance.
4 stars for prime rib/salad and management downgraded to 2 stars for service and non-lactose free dessert.
