| - I came here after seeing this place talked about on a Yelp talk thread. I don't know anything about pho and I have only had less than desirable Vietnamese sandwiches at Lee's Sandwiches, so I went in blind and hoping for the best.
I came in hungry so I got two BBQ pork bahn mi, one of the regular pork bahn mi, and I got the pho dac biet which had rare sliced beef, flank, tendon, tripe, and meatball. I substituted the beef ball for extra rare steak.
Everything I got was pretty tasty. I could taste the meat in the sandwiches, there was a good amount of meat, and the veggies and herbs in them help add a extra level of diversity to the flavor, they were a nice addition. The meat was hot and fresh tasting, and the veggies were crisp and fresh. The bbq pork sandwich had a more sweater taste than the regular pork.
I liked the pho, but not as much as the sandwiches. Even after dumping in all the bean sprouts, basil, and jalapenos, I just ended up eating everything but the broth. I at least know the broth is the main thing with pho, but I wasn't really feeling it. I just ended up slurping some of it, but mostly used it to dip my sandwiches in. So it wasn't a total waste, but I didn't eat/drink all of it.
While I would give the food as a whole three stars, this place gets bumped up to four stars because of the price. Everything was very inexpensive. One sandwich was $3.50 and the other was $4.00. I paid around 20 bucks for everything and ended up being full for the rest of the day.
I am always looking for fresh tasting and affordable food, and this establishment has a good combination of the two. I'll definitely be coming back to try other sandwiches, pho, and the other dinner options they have.
