O'callaghan park has been in Henderson Nevada since the mid-1980s. This is a lunch to a lot of shade trees which is a bonus in a hot desert when you're looking to cool off outside in the summer. Ample walking trails are concrete sidewalks and are lifted in a few areas due to tree roots. So pay attention and be careful while you're on your morning stroll.
The park boasts a baseball field, basketball courts, sand volleyball, tennis courts and two playground areas for kids. Make note that there's only one bathroom for the entire park so if you're at the playground area near the sand volleyball, I'll need to give enough time to take Junior up to the potty.
The park is very dog friendly and you'll find regulars that are here bringing their coaches in the morning and the evening. Many are so comfortable with their dogs at the park that they're not on leashes. So if you're coming here with your Pooch for the first time keep an eye out. Now, they just added a brand new agility park for dogs we're off leash is allowed.
I've lived on the street for years and the park has provided a safe, fun, excape from my family. The only criticism that have for the park is that there isn't enough lighting for when the Sun goes down. It would be great at the city of Henderson would install more lighting underneath the covered picnic areas. Will keep an eye out for that!
