  • I had been considering LASIK for years and finally took the plunge a couple of weeks ago. I was very nervous about the procedure and recovery but the entire staff was very friendly and reassuring. There wasn't as much information in the pre-screening appointments other than cost and types of LASIK they offered but everyone was very professional and friendly. When I showed up for the actual procedure, they have a whole system of cycling patients through the pre-procedure checks. I checked in, had my vision checked again, and they ran a few quick tests to make sure nothing would affect the procedure (I'm assuming). The whole time, the staff was helpful and friendly and would explain exactly what they were doing and why. When Dr. Rothman came in to go over the procedure, he was very personable and knowledgeable; this had a great calming effect on my nerves (in addition to the Valium) because I like to know what to expect. He went over each step, what to expect, what it might feel like and what I could do as a patient to help the procedure go smoothly. I was asked several times if I had any questions, they were definitely concerned about patient comfort. Honestly I was too nervous to ask any questions but everything was covered in such detail that I really couldn't think of any. As far as the procedure itself, it went exactly as Dr. Rothman said it would. I had the all-laser LASIK on both eyes for distance vision. The only part that I wasn't entirely prepared for was contact with the area around my eyes (eyelid, eyebrow, etc) and am pretty sure I flinched a little-- only the eyeball is numbed, not the entire face.... Seems obvious, right? Oh, and you can smell when the laser is working, it's nothing bad, just not a really pleasant smell. Overall, I had a great experience, I am seeing 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other per my one-week check-up and with the exception of the first day, my eyes were pretty much pain free. I highly recommend LASIK of Nevada for their professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness!
