| - I have to be honest, I for sure though I wasn't going to like this place. Silly reason, but the name totally put me off. When I heard The Main Ingredient Ale House And Cafe, I thought for sure it was just a beer & wine place as far as alcohol goes. I cannot have beer or red wine, so I avoid places that don't serve liquor if going out for a night of boozing, which this was. Liquor is not necessary for dinner alone, but this was Friday night boozing time. Also, the name is hard to remember, & that annoyed me as well. Nobody could remember the whole name, so people just kept calling it TMI...works for me.
Well folks, I am an asshole, and my reasons for assuming I wouldn't like this place were dumb. It's like therapy when you can admit stuff like that. OK, down to business, my actual review.
The have liquor!! OH yes people, they have a full bar. I had the vodka press, and it was a decent drink. It didn't blow me away, & the price was a bit high...but it was decent. Plus, they have a full bar. Oh, did i already say that?
Now the food, I got a salad called The Winner, and boy was it ever. I am trying to remember all the ingredients so I can do it justice. It had some wonderful mixed greens, Genoa salami, turkey, fresh mozzarella, kalamata olives, and I am sure there is something else I am forgetting. It was offered with a lemon dressing, but I dislike lemon dressing, so I went with their balsamic vinaigrette, which was great. This is the best salad I've had in ages. Most salads I like, but don't love...this one I love. I will say you should probably get another side of something with it, since a salad never completely fills you up. You know it's true. Who isn't hungry an hour later, if all they ate was a salad?
Finally the service, sad to say, but it was a bit of a mess. The owner readily admitted that she did not expect to get so busy so soon, & that she was understaffed. I have respect for her admitting that, & have faith that she'll fix it. I propose finding a better waiter than the guy who was working the outside area this past Friday night. He was nice, but you can tell waiting is not where his skill set lies. If a place is under staffed with great waiters, things go much more smoothly.
My friends also surprised me with a Shake Weight, because I've been talking about wanting one for a while now. Nobody in the place seemed to mind that we were all using & passing around a Shake Weight. So feel free to bring your Shake Weight here when you & your friends come out too.
After the kinks are worked out, I think this place will be fantastic. I will definitely be back.
