  • I usually go to Nailsense for my waxing due to their surgical level of sterility, but it was getting so popular that I would have to book my appointments so far in advance that I decided to see if there was somewhere else in the neighbourhood for those times I need a last-minute wax. I decided to try the 10 spot due to their commitment to cleanliness. Pros: clean environment, sterilized equipment, no double dipping (ew, this is a deal breaker for me for all waxing salons so I watch carefully), netflix in the treatment rooms, friendly and personable staff. She used a mix of hard wax in some areas and soft wax in others and I liked the idea that she was selecting the most appropriate product for different areas. Cons: waxing wasn't as thorough as I was used to. My waxist at Nailsense would take a tweezer to any short hairs left behind and the waxist here didn't do that, so I did have some quite a few random scattered hairs left immediately after the wax. It's been 2 weeks and these short hairs have grown (obviously) so I will either have to do some touch-up waxing at home or shave them until my next wax. She did quite large areas at once which made the whole process pretty fast but it was also more painful that way. I also felt like the hard wax was sort of messily going everywhere. I'm not used to hard wax though so maybe this is always what it is like. But I've been getting waxed for over 10 years and this was unusually painful. I also had a lot of inflammation after- I am usually red and a bit irritated for about 3 or 4 hours after, so when my skin looked red and angry after I wasn't too worried, but its been 2 weeks and it still looks pretty red. I feel like there was more trauma to the skin, maybe because she did such large areas at once. I've also gotten several ingrown hairs which I've never had an issue with before in more than a decade of waxing. I probably can't really blame that on the waxing- but I think maybe I wasn't exfoliating effectively because the skin was so red and irritated for so long after. Overall its 2 weeks later and my skin looks red and irritated with a dusting or dark hair, plus ingrown issues! Hardly presentable. So basically it's not my new Nailsense. I won't even be my new last-minute-date-night waxing salon because frankly it didn't leave a very attractive look with all the redness and tiny leftover hairs. If you have sensitive skin like mine, I'm not sure I would recommend it. If you have thicker skin the fast approach might work better for you though. Also pricier than my last place and I didn't get 25% off my first wax unlike the other posters:(
