| - We hired Tariq after receiving numerous recommendations through a local Facebook group. After meeting him he seemed passionate and enthusiastic just as the online reviews described; however, after 4 days of working in our home we saw a very different side of Tariq. He took a Friday, Monday and Tuesday off work due to a "family emergency". He had told me he would complete the job on 10/20 (he began on 10/2) and he planned to start our kitchen tile backsplash on the 11th. On the 11th he instead completed painting our kitchen and began displaying bizarre, erratic behavior. He was definitely not the same easygoing, nice guy who had spent the previous week painting our home. Instead he was an offensive, sexist, irrational man who told me multiple times that I was trying to get things "for free" due to my confusion by his hand written "contracts". The contracts were handwritten notes that he took during our initial meeting in the middle of August, 6 weeks prior. I was happy to chalk it up to a misunderstanding and pay him for whatever he wanted in order for the job to be completed, but he absolutely refused to move forward with the job. He began lying about his understanding of things, and when IĀ mentioned things he had sent me in writing to disproveĀ his claims that seemed to make him more angry. Rather than admit any misunderstanding, he insulted me numerous times and I ultimately had to ask him to leave my home as I was frightened by his behavior. I was very grateful that my father-in-law was here the entire time Tariq was so he could witness everything that transpired. He and I were in shock by Tariq's behavior as this was not the same person we had trusted in my home around my small children. When he picked up his final payment, I had my husband meet with him on our front porch where our security camera could record the interaction as I was afraid of what he may do. My husband and I made it clear that we were very disappointed that Tariq was choosing to abandon the job rather than move forward as we were happy to pay him. We made it clear we would be writing a poor review to warn others about our experience with him. The next day, Tariq began harassing me on a local Facebook group page where he had come recommended. He then began attacking my character and made false claims about my small children in an attempt to bad-mouth an unhappy customer. Perhaps these intimidation techniques have worked in the past to spare him bad reviews, but I will not be bullied by a poor businessman. I do not recommend Lush Brush Designs whatsoever. Perhaps something has changed in Tariq's personal life following this so-called family emergency, because prior to that he was a completely different person. I would like to warn other women, especially those with small children, of his behavior as I would hate for someone else to have to feel the way that I do after dealing with him. It can be frightening having strangers in your home as it is, and I never would have hired him had I have known this was a possibility.
