  • We visited this facility on Monday, as our little Pomeranian was not eating or drinking, but constantly vomiting. And having difficulty in standing up or walking. She was obviously very ill. The receptionist, staff, techs, and vet were all friendly and compassionate. That takes of the positives. Dr. Hoskins (sp?) prescribed a series of tests (while we waited), all of which came back negative . That night, our dog's condition continued to deteriorate and we came back to Creature Comforts on Wednesday. Dr. Fancher suggested an x-ray and a "subcutaneous fluid shot" to re hydrate the dog. The x-ray showed nothing and Fancher speculated there might be liver, pancreas, renal failure. Or cancer, or intestinal blockage. She discounted the possibility of an infection since the dog's temperature was normal. All throughout the visit, everybody at Creature Comforts kept saying : "Well, you know, she's TWELVE YEARS OLD". Pomeranians should expect to make to 15-16 years. She advised exploratory surgery. She also disagreed with the conclusions of Dr. Hoskins regarding Cushing's Disease. All through this, everybody at CC was friendly, gracious, and charming . This obviously is in accord with the facility's policy of recommending unnecessary tests to run up as much revenue as possible and soothing customers while exhibiting unimaginable incompetence. Costs? Tests came in at just under $700. The surgery would have cost $2,500. When we questioned all of this, we received a mind-numbing lecture on the state of modern medicine. If you value the life or your dog (and the state of your financial resources) stay far away from this scam operation. Now for the good news: We took our dog to Critter Care on Thursday. She was barely conscious and had not taken in any food or water for six days. She vomited four times while in the office...mostly bile. We were prepared for the worst, but Dr. Hussey suggested, along with other possibilities, a gastrointestinal infection. She recommended an antibiotic, which we took with us. It is now Saturday and the transformation in our little girl has been beyond spectacular! Overnight, she has started charging around the house, playing with her toys the way she always did for the last 12 years, and climbing all over us to be fed. Total cost at Critter Care? A whopping $32.76! And we are more than happy to give them that for a drug that costs $12 at any pharmacy. They genuinely deserve the mark-up. After all, restaurants do the same with wine on the menu! We are grateful to Dr. Hussey and her staff for saving our baby's life. Amazingly enough, both hospitals are owned by the same woman! Stay away from Creature Comforts, but be confident in the competency at Critter Care.
