| - I've never felt the need or had a reason to write a restaurant review until now...my dining experience at La Casa was horrible and I want to forewarn my fellow Pittsburghers about this place. First off, the place is very small and claustrophobic. It has patio furniture. Not quite the decor that you would expect for a restaurant that is a bit pricey. We had made a reservation but had to wait 15 minutes. We then had to wait approximately 15 minutes until our drink order was taken, and then at least another 15 minutes until we received our drinks (for a party of 3). We ordered 3 types of tapas. Two came out together and the other 10 minutes later. Our bread was also delivered ten minutes after our two tapas dishes arrived. When the first two dishes arrived, we ordered mussels. Never did we imagine that it would take 45 minutes to receive these ~ the waiter kept coming by and saying that our mussels would be right out. By the time we arrived, we didn't want them and I made a comment to the waitress that it took 45 minutes to get them and she simply asked, Do you still want them? Not, I'm sorry for the delay, our kitchen is busy. Nor did she offer to comp them for our long wait. The food wasn't that good and for the prices, not worth it at all.
The clincher of the evening was when one of the waiters was clearing off our table and dropped a utensil on one of the empty chairs, which also held my coat. He walked away and didn't say anything. It wasn't until 5 minutes later that we happened to notice that in the process of dropping the utensil, he also dropped a lot of garlic sauce on my jacket. When I brought it to the attention of one of the other waitresses, she seemed concerned and mentioned getting some club soda. It never came. The waiter who dropped the sauce came over and was just like, Oh No. He didn't apologize and took my coat away to show to the owner. After another 5 minute wait, the owner came over and included a $20 bill along with our FULL bill which was in no way discounted. She then had the audacity to say she had no idea how much dry cleaning costs. I explained to her that this was the only coat I owned and she said "I'm sorry, if it ends up costing more, bring back the receipt and we will give you the difference." I have never in my life had such a negative restaurant experience. Go elsewhere if you want to have an enjoyable meal with attentive service.
