There are certainly some incredible challenges and incredible rewards in the nearly 1,200 ft elevation change afforded by some of the trails at the largest municipal park in the United States, some say in the entire world. Yep, 17,000 acres right here in our own back yard.
I've had the opportunity to do more hiking here over the past 3 years, and my opinion of the park has come up. Now that I live within 3/4 mile of two South Mountain Park trail heads, it's easier to access and I can even be a cheater by parking a car at either Dobbins or Buena Vista overlooks and then hiking home to a 2nd car to drive up and retrieve the 1st car. ;)
