This place has a lot of things going for it. To name a few:
- One of the best fish fry dishes in town. Very filling and they make an amazing breading
- Dishes I've had have all been good: The reuben is made with brisket and kimchi which make a stellar combination. The salad selection is limited but solid. Don't skip the fries if you like the thin-crispy style pseudo-chips with a house-made ketchup.
- Beer selection is varied in palate and diverse in origin, with a loving nod to some of the midwest breweries of renown.
- Live music is always pleasant. The space's acoustics lend themselves to the jazz quartet we heard there.
- Patio in the hippest part of Madison (in my opinion)
- Nice bar (one barrel) and divey bar (ideal bar) nearby while you wait for a table
- Friendly service and a good crowd.
- Quiet enough for a conversation, the atmosphere is 'chill'
Cons:
- Cash only, but they have an ATM
- Often crowded, see my comment about nearby bars for waiting
- A bit dark at night. Doesn't bother me but my girlfriend likes the brighter tables
Overall a great spot. They have me hooked.
