| - As a non-member I was granted permission to try it out after dinner at Sidecar. I was fully planning on getting a membership for some place to hang, take clients, etc., if the drinks were decent. The drinks were good and put together with skill and artistry by the bar tender. Unfortunately, the whole idea of having rules to keep things classy went out the window long before we got up there. Some guests were having a birthday party from what I could gather and they were howling, cackling and acting up. The staff tried to contain them but no one ever did anything about it (i.e. tell them to leave/revoke their membership). They were allowed to carry on like it was their own home the entire time, despite the fact it was obviously uncomfortable for everyone else in the bar. We noticed the staff talked amongst themselves about what to do and how to respond but there was no action on their part -- where was the manager?
There is no point in having a private club with rules if the rules aren't enforced. We were absolutely shocked this was allowed to occur at any bar, let alone a private one that boasts rules and a calm, classy environment to try interesting drinks. We left our 2 x $20 drinks after about 15 minutes because things were just so annoying and their behaviour was appalling. If this is going to be a private club, then the rules need to be enforced. Needless to say, I skipped the membership. It's really too bad, this was such a nice place and the drink selection was great.
