Growler's Pourhouse won the 2012 Competition for BEST SANDWICH IN CHARLOTTE by the Charlotte Observer Magazine, so naturally I decided I would have to see what all of the fuss was about. There were plenty of other amazing sandwich's in the competition but the Reuben at Growler's Pourhouse came out victorious among all other sandwich's in the Queen City.
For $8 I would have preferred the sandwich come with some sort of side item but with that aside... the sandwich rocked. The picture on the Growlers website shows a reuben stacked high with ingredients and although I found mine to be a little less impressive than the picture above I did find it the best reuben I had ever eaten (also the first). The corned beef, sriracha russian dressing, swiss cheese, purple slaw, and juniper berry sauerkraut on marble rye bread was one hell of a marvelous sandwich creation.
I can't say quite yet that its the best sandwich in Charlotte but the Reuben definitely brought a smile to my face :)
