| - Won't repeat what's been said - generally a great airline that provides great, friendly customer service, and flies out of YTZ Island Airport which is very convenient for those who live in downtown Toronto.
I've flown Porter once a month for 2 years now (to NYC), and the 3 Stars is because lately, they've really been having big problems with delays.
Particularly for the Fri night - Sun night busy flights, there's been a delay almost every time, and often in the 3+ hr range. While it's usually because of "weather", it's still Porter's problem to fix, given it is generally because their planes are so small, they have a tougher time taking off in medium-weather. This is their choice (to cut costs), not ours, and if it's continually becoming a bigger problem (as it is), they need to provide more buffer room in-between flights for a plane so if a flight is delayed coming to one airport for example, it doesn't eat into the next flight that plane is scheduled to do. You should see Newark airport Porter terminal on Fridays - past few times, it's been a total madhouse!
And let's be clear - this is NOT a discount airline. Prices are pretty expensive (as people have mentioned, the taxes flying into the US are $100 one-way on the way there to the US alone), and for the realistic personal traveler, the "30% off sales" really just bring flights back in line with other airlines. You'd be crazy to buy a seat for full price... For that much, in my opinion, you need to do more than just have great agents, flight attendants, and good service - you also need to make sure you can execute the original business of moving people from A to B on time!
At the end of the day, Porter does a great job in bringing the service back to air travel, and I've been a very happy customer for a long time. I think some constructive criticism is warranted here though, as I feel they are slipping, and hopefully are trying to do something about it!
