| - The management team/HOA nazis in this building are the most despicable characters I've ever met. They are all sweetness and light until you are actually living there, or more unfortunately an owner. They actually fined me $500 for my friends supposedly having glass near the pool. They said that a security guard was right next to them - and incredulously instead of the guard inquiring on the spot whether it was glass or not and giving a warning - they instead used their dirty stealthy tactics to send me a grainy photo with a $500 fine.
The strong arm tactics continued when they suddenly decided my condo was the source of a "leak" below me. Their inept maintenance man demanded access to my condo, ran straight to a little door, pulled it open and said "there it is" as he shined his flashlight briefly against some pipes. He didn't feel around for moisture, didn't run the shower to see if it was the source - just strutted out with a look of triumph on his face. So with huge anxiety I took time off the next day to meet a plumber, at my expense, who ran some tests, walked to the supply room to see if the "leak" was worse when water was running and told me there was no sign of any leak. I told the HOA thugs about his assessment - by their recommended plumber - and instead of standing down, they called that same plumbing company back out and on a Friday night banged on my door and demanded entrance again. Wise to their intentions, I refused to allow them to enter and told them to F-off. Did they? No, they stood outside my door yelling that I had told them they could come back in and why was I being so unreasonable. About two weeks later I videotaped them walking under my balcony and pointing up at my condo saying "it's from her unit". No it wasn't. And in their rage they sent me another fine for a plastic bowl, that they decided was ceramic, because it was overhanging the deck. $500. Another petty act of revenge.
Then there was the time they made up a "gas leak" on the "entire 2nd floor" in order to stealthily search my condo while I was at work. There was no gas leak and not one other unit was searched or even notified. I had a former tenant leave and they wrote me that there was "no gas leak, but a different odor that "could have had something to do with my tenant". Totally confused by their emails, I wrote it off as yet another example of their weirdness, until two weeks later when I was cleaning and discovered a stash of weed way at the back of the cabinet above the frig. I am quite tall, and I had to stand on a bar stool to find it, as it was hidden in a cracker box and shoved to the back. When I told them about it they said "we already knew that". What??? So a piece of equipment used to test for gas also had pot detection capabilities? Ridiculous. If they found that, it would have taken them hours of searching. Illegal searching. They entered my unit on false pretenses and searched for hours to find...what again?
Then there was the time my front door wouldn't open and I called THEIR locksmith, who told me that the locks on every door needed to be replaced and that the HOA thugs had let three proposals for replacement die on the vine. He said I should remove some of the door seal and it would fix the problem. He said at least six other residents had done that. So of course their maintenance man, when barging into my home for the mythical water leak, told me I'd be fined for that. When I told them about what their own locksmith had said, they were seething, but demanded I replace the seal.
These are just a few examples of their crazy, strong arm tactics. When I sold my condo, they assessed $2,000 of fines, which they refused to itemize, and forced me to pay it or the sale would flip.
Then there was this new $150 fine for moving out or in to the building, slapped on the entire community for who knows why. Their move out process was already ridiculous - you had to get stuff down the elevator, walk it up the garage entry and haul it around the block to where they allowed a uhaul to park. It doubled the move time. When I moved out, with an email trail of requests and confirmations from THEM, they flew off the handle the following Monday and accused me of moving on the wrong day. They were furious that they didn't get to personally monitor the move and undoubtedly assess yet another fine. They grudgingly backed down when I sent their own email back to them.
DO NOT MOVE HERE AND DO NOT BUY HERE!!! You will regret it.
