| - Direct TV was a decent company prior to ATT taking over. However, after putting up with them now for 5 years, we were unable to get service this evening as our TV showed some error code. We called tech support and were advised that the dish they installed would require a service call that we would have to pay $99 for since we were not paying an ADDITIONAL $7.99 for per month. So I am supposed to insure THEIR equipment? I then asked that they waive the fee and it was like talking to a broken record, repeating the $99 option. I then asked for my account to be cancelled and I would go to Cox. The tech support could not cancel the account, so, after 37 minutes on the phone, a supervisor came on the line and reiterated the need for me to pay $99, again and again. When I insisted she cancel the service, she told me I'd have to pay $160.00 to cancel!!!! Are you kidding me?! Another $20 for something else. She claimed I'd signed off on all this on my service contract, which she was unable to access. She did send me something in Spanish, which I do not speak, and clearly would not have signed. I requested HER supervisor, who, of course was not available after hours (when most people like to watch their damn TV!!). So now, no tv, no cancellation, and no resolution to the problem! How can a company who doesn't give the slightest care for their customers succeed? This is bullying and in a very gray area of unethical business practice. What is wrong with doing the RIGHT thing for customers, Direct TV?!
