| - Great steaks, decent drinks, OK service, nice restaurant.
Their steaks are good. I don't think they're prime and they're not aged as long as Chicago steakhouses (14-21 instead of the usual 28-32 days), but they cook them right. My steak was ordered charred medium rare. It came out nicely charred and perhaps toward medium, but it was quite easy to cut and chew, and the extra heat melted more fat, making for an unusually un-grizzly ribeye. Strip is also nicely done, and due to its thickness a bit easier to cook to temperature.
Cod was fresh and perfectly cooked, on an unusual but not-as-overwhelming-as-it-sounds carrot/ginger puree. Not a huge plate but recommended for a light meal.
Hash browns were second tier to places like Tornado Room, Smoky's, or the Wonder Bar but did the trick of being salty, crispy, and absorbing steak grease.
Service was fine, about average for Madison. Prices very reasonable for a steakhouse -- $28-$35 for a steak with potato. Booths are much nicer and less trafficked than the tables.
