| - I requested a quote for re-tiling of small shower stall in bathroom. late july 2017. Shower had grout problems, water damaging sheet rock behind tiles, and some tiles coming off. (yes the original builders used sheetrock!) Shower pan was in great shape. Just wanted new tiles, backerboard and waterproofing done, and I would do the demo.
I will give these guys credit, they did actually show up to look at it and give me a quote. The problem comes when the guy shows up and starts yapping about all the things they will do with prepping and building a new shower pan, and how they wont touch any glass shower doors. The guy was not listening when I told him all I want done is backerboard, waterproofing, and tile install. I would do demo, and I would provide the materials. Anyway I get a call the next day with a price. $2100.00, where I have to spring for the materials myself, and then have to either hire a glass installer, or re-install shower door myself. Tiles cost $150, and backerboards were only $14 each. What a rip off. I wound up doing the job myself. I spent about $700, because I had to buy a wet tile saw, tools, and various materials. wound up stripping whole bathroom, and installing new lights, painting entire bathroom. gutted shower to frame, and did it all. Looks great. No thanks to National stone. several other contractors did not want to do the job and said they were booked for a couple months. That is the one positive thing I can say about National stone. They will actually show up for giving a quote. The quote will be sky high, but they will show up.
