| - Pathetic Customer Service !
I called 2 times to confirm they had an air mattress in stock. The first time I was on hold for 20 minutes while the employee in the sports department checked, I was told to call back in an hour. I called back in 1.5 hrs. When I called back around 2pm the same employee confirmed that the mattress was in stock, 10 in total, but that they were on a skid in the back that had not been put on the shelf yet. I asked the employee to set one aside for me, gave him my name and phone number. He confirmed he can't hold at customer service but would put it on hold at the sports desk for me, I confirmed I would be coming between 5-6pm to pick it up. All was good.
So I show up to the store at 5:45...no employees in the sports area for a good 15-20 minutes until I was finally able to flag someone down. I asked about the product since I did not see anything on hold for me at the desk. he brought me to the shelf where they keep the product I wanted to purchase, and showed me the last one on the shelf which had CLEARLY been opened at returned...yes that's right...and OPENED AND USED AND RETURNED BLOW UP MATTRESS... GROSS!!!
I asked him to check the back again, as I was previously told they had a new shipment in the back, and thought perhaps it was not put on the shelf yet. 20 minutes later he emerges from the back with a stunned look on his face indicating he clearly had forgotten I was waiting for him to check the back for me. he claims they have nothing in the back. I went back and grabbed the previously opened air mattress and brought it to the sports desk so he could scan it to confirm this info. he scans it and the computer tells him there are 10 in stock. I ask him to check again, he refuses. he says "why don't you just buy this one", I told him it has CLEARLY been opened. I asked him to open the box to inspect the product before I purchase it and he refused to do so..so I did it myself... and lone and behold the protective package inside to seal the air mattress was torn and shoved into a corner of the box, there were parts missing, etc.
I told him i'm not taking the product like this, what if it doesn't inflate properly and then i'm not able to return it because its already been opened...I asked him to call around to other locations to put one aside for me....a younger female supervisor for the sports department came around, rude as all hell, no help at all, refused to listen to my concerns mumbled "we don't put sales items on hold" grunted and walked away. At this point I was trying to keep myself calm and collected because it was some other employees fault, not this guy or the supervisor.
I got another store on the phone faster than the employee was able to, apologized to him, thanked him for his "help" and went to the location at Dixie & Dundas where they not only set aside the air mattress for me, but had a FULLY STOCKED shelf!
Queensway location needs to seriously step their game up....
Customer service.. FAIL! Professionalism...FAIL! and overall cleanliness of the sports department is shameful!
