| - It kind of pains me to do this in a way but I've waited long enough to do my update and I would now rate Fitness 19 at about 1.5 stars BUT I'll round up due to the only saving grace, for me at least, my trainer Russ. If I were just doing a review on Russ, this would be a solid 3.5 or 4 star review and ,after some consideration, if I chose to ever stop working with him or if he leaves for a different gym, I'll be surrendering my membership. Here's why:
1. How can parts be on order for a specific piece of cardio equipment for OVER 8 MONTHS? This same machine has been broken since a few months after I first started working out there and it has STILL not been fixed, as I said, 8 months later! I like to use the Precor elliptical, stair climber combo machine and with one of them being out of commission, that leaves only 4 total and there is ALWAYS a wait for them when I am trying to go after work to the gym.
2. When it's 30 something degrees outside is it really necessary to turn off the fans?! I am sweating balls the majority of the time I am in there to the point where I need to wear shorts as opposed to leggings whether it's -15 or 50 outside. Personally, I prefer leggings in the winter but when they turn off the fans (and seemingly crank the heat) I can't wear my preferred work out attire (I know, first world problems, but this is supposed to be an honest review!)
3. Many of the "regulars" of the male gender (sorry guys) take over the weight machines and then look at you like you not only are you spekaing a foreign language but also that you have 6 eyes and 3 noses when you ask to either work in on their set or if you can use the piece of equipment after they finish.
4. Staff is much more interested in their personal conversations or talking to/flirting with their friends who also are patrons of this gym. If you need help with anything at all, good luck, you'll be waiting quite some time.
In summary, yes, this gym is cheap and if you're willing to put up with my grievances about the gym, this is a very affordable option for working out. And, again, Russ, the personal trainer I work with, is AWESOME! He has helped transform my body over the past year and a half in ways I never thought possible (not that I had weight to lose, just I was tired of being a bean pole with no muscles and he for sure changed that!) so I, personally, have benefitted from Fitness 19 in that way, however, if not for him, I 100% can say I'd drop my membership and go check out one of the other many gyms located in the North Hills.
