I've passed by Massey Hall several times before and have always been attracted to its historic look even just from the outside. I've always wondered how it looks like inside. Two months ago, my husband took me here to see Bill Burr's show. Quite frankly, I was more excited with the venue rather than the show itself, although I ended up enjoying the night as well and eventually even subscribing to Bill Burr's Monday podcasts. Anyway back to Massey, it was just what I had expected it to be. It certainly isn't Air Canada Centre proportions, but I actually like it better because it makes the show more intimate and personal. Before the lights got dim, I couldn't help but admire the interior which had an air of special charm and mystery. I could not help but imagine that this must be the same place where people in the old days watched concerts and stage plays-- with the ladies dressed in puffy gowns and the gentlemen in tails and top hats. Anyway I was brought back to reality with my husband complaining that the seats seemed to have some sort of musty door. He was right-- it did smell a bit like a library in there, but I loved it. Then again that's just me being a sucker for all things vintage.
