| - First of all, I have to say that this place is very cute.
Sweet Moses definitely takes you into the 1940s of our imagination with its decor (real booths from a soda fountain shop from the 40s, I think) and its very friendly soda jerks. I went with some friends on a late summer evening on a weekday, and it was nice to see people still coming in, ordering, eating their ice cream outside with their dogs.
I have to say -- they have really beautiful cases and cast iron chairs.
We shared a shoreway sundae, which is a coffee ice cream with toffee, almonds, and chocolate fudge. The presentation was very cute -- they hung 3 large pretzels over our 3 spoons. They also gave us free popcorn which tastes great dipped in the coffee ice cream / fudge. The ice cream was creamy and very flavorful. The sundae is large and definitely shareable.
The service was great -- friendly, relaxed, and believable without seeming hokey. (Their soda jerk outfits are clean cut and modern.)
I was very excited to come here, and I very much want this business to succeed. In the end, I just don't think I related to it much. Maybe I just have a personal thing about the 40s (or at least pre 1965 America).
It's a "classic" Cleveland treat bar that is a sweet addition to a neighborhood that is reinventing itself.
