  • I can't believe I'm about to write a bad review about Planet Fitness but here we go. I actually worked at a Planet Fitness so I know exactly the standards that are to be upheld in this establishment. I wanted a membership after recently leaving my home PF, so I went in to this location. In my experience working at PF, we were instructed to say hello and goodbye to everyone, but that must not be the case here. No welcome in, no anything, and it took me walking up to the front desk and waiting to get someone to even turn to help me. At my location, which was Avondale, we were taught to be pleasant and excited for people to come in. The girl that helped me (don't know her name but she was wearing extremely short and inappropriate shorts) seemed like she didn't want to be there and didn't want to help me. I told her I wanted a membership and she replied with "do you know which one you want?". Now, if you've never been to a PF, it is not expected for you to know the memberships. That is what a tour is for, and she should have offered that the second I told her I wanted a membership. I said I wanted the Black Card (highly recommend), and she proceeded to go over the rate sheet in a nonchalant and sloppy manner. I already knew everything and she went over all the key points so kudos to her. Her overview of the agreement was also done very nicely so I appreciated that. Not to mention it was only a dollar to sign up. I hadn't actually walked around the facility so I asked if I could. She said "yeah you can walk around or I could give you a tour" in a very bored tone. I didn't want to inconvenience her since it seemed like she was EXTREMELY busy with her conversation with her friend, so I said I would walk around alone. She had me fill out a sign in sheet, then I wandered around the facility aimlessly. I personally thought the layout was interesting but that was because I was so used to my home location. It has a good amount of equipment for all muscle groups. Overall, the location was dark and scattered. Once I finished looking around I went back to the front and she handed me a piece of paper that I would fill out. It was like I was filling out one of those papers they give you in high school that ask questions like "what's your favorite hobby". Not my favorite way to give my checking account information, but whatever works. As she was putting my information in she was having a conversation with the same friend, and it seemed like she didn't care at all that she was helping me. After getting all my stuff she said have a nice day then went back to talking to her friend. So it looks like at this location you actually have to ASK for a tour instead of being offered one. If I had never been into this location before Or worked at a PF I probably wouldn't have signed up. With my black card I won't be visiting this location often, which is fine with me. She didn't explain the fitness training at all, and since I was the fitness trainer at Avondale I made sure my staff talked me up. She didn't show me the black card spa, and while I already know everything about it, that would have been nice. Obviously I am more picky because I have been put up to such high standards at my PF, but I would expect the manager of this location (who seemed very nice the first time I met him) to put his employees to the same standards PF expects. Looks like you need to put your staff through some customer service training, because you definitely did not make me a raving fan.
