| - Let me begin by stating that Ruben was an absolutely wonderful salesmen who made an experience that began rocky absolutely magnificent!
My mother and I came to the store to purchase a sleeper sofa, and I was immediately overwhelmed by the massive selection of furniture and paintings available at the American Furniture Warehouse. When we entered, we wore smiles, we were clearly approachable, and from both our speech and our mannerisms it was clear that we were in need of assistance.
Cut to four employees completely ignoring us, making a point of walking around us in a wide berth, rushing over to help other customers who came in late. I even overhead one couple going "They look like they need help" while a female staff member glanced at us and said "Oh no, I'm sure they're fine."
I'd also like to cut away at this moment and reiterate how approachable we were. I had just come straight from my office and was still wearing a suit (sans coat and vest left in the truck; 70 degrees is too hot for a three piece!), our speech was cordial, and we made it clear we needed help.
To be honest, after the dreadful treatment we received from the majority of the floor staff, I was ready to walk out, drive an extra half hour and pay several hundred more to make my purchase at Ikea. And then, Ruben came to our rescue!
I cannot stress enough how polite, warm, friendly, open, dynamic and positively excelsior Ruben is! He very clearly cared about us as individuals and was knowledgeable and an absolute joy to interact with.
I had a very specific item in mind, and was able to describe to Ruben what I was looking for in terms of color, functionality and price point. When I elaborated further that I had a need for a particular firmness and thickness of mattress and couch cushion, Ruben knew exactly what to show me. I fell in love with the sofa immediately, and when we wanted to take a bit more time to think about things Ruben gave us space with a cheerful smile.
He also showed us a few other models, took me to where I was able to test every mattress available, and made certain to get us the right fit for my household's needs.
I thoroughly enjoyed my interaction with Ruben, and felt comfortable that his greatest priority was to deliver us a smooth, enjoyable experience and the right product for our needs.
I can honestly say that were it not for Ruben, I would not have purchased anything from this store today. Because of his amazing demeanor and warm nature, I will most certainly be coming back again, and you can guarantee that I will be looking to work with him when I do so!
