Quintessential no-frill take-out barbecue joint with delicious, smoky baby back pork ribs. The 1/2 SLAB DINNER with 2 SMALL SIDES at $14+ came with 8 meaty ribs that were nice and tender with a super flavorful crust. My husband and I aren't huge volume meat-eaters, so we had leftovers for days. They forgot our sauce on the side, which initially made me super sad when we realized this at home, but they were slightly redeemed when we tasted the meat and found it didn't need sauce at all.
The MAC AND CHEESE was pretty ordinary, a bit dry even, and the GREENS were pretty salty and not my favorite. Vegetarians beware--though the sides are advertised as pork free, my greens definitely had some chicken bits hidden throughout--a strip of skin and even a small wing bone. Yep.
All this made for pretty shabby service, but I came to taste the ribs and I wasn't disappointed. As a lover of divey hole-in-the-wall ethnic restaurants, I'm pretty immune to these types of frustrations. Would for sure return for the smoky pork and the great prices.
