District one is somewhat of a novelty restaurant. They get you to come in by offering things you would not normally see in a typical Vietnamese restaurant. Most notably is the lobster pho, where they put an entire cooked lobster in your noodles. While the idea is clever and unique, the price is a little steep for me. While I do love lobster and pho, I wouldn't pay $50 per bowl for it, especially when I can get a good bowl of pho for under $6 back home. Some of the more affordable dishes are the big bone soup, which has tons of delicious cartilage that just falls off the bone and juicy marrow. There's no noodles in it, just soup, but it's good nonetheless. Ox tail fried rice isn't something you see all the time, but they certainly make it good here. I wish some restaurants in Orange County would start picking this dish up.
Service is wonderful, but you better get their early or be prepared to wait in a long line!
