  • I'm reviewing the sit-in coffee shop and cafeteria in the Crowfoot Safeway only. Here the arrangement for coffee drinks is with Starbucks, as it is with most Safeways. They also serve pre-prepared almost gourmet soups (when they're kept fresh) and made to order deli sandwiches. The value is quite good but they're missing a few things. There's great potential here but so far unrealized. The facilities are all in place, tables & chairs inside and out, food and drinks etc., but the way they operate makes it all for naught. Anyone with a typical half to one hour lunch break could not consider going here for lunch. It just takes too long to get your sandwich and soup, pay for it, line up at Starbucks, order your drink, pay for it and then sit down. You'd be fired if you went here for lunch any more than once a months. If you do have some time to dally they have wireless internet, but nowhere to connect your laptop to AC power. So it's not a place to sit and work or study for any length of time, while enjoying food and drink. Your laptop will die smack in the middle of that essay you're working on. The potential is here but not realized so far. I suppose they get their orders from Pleasanton, California and simply can't do much locally without risking termination... or worse. Too bad, it's a nice location with an almost complete cafe concept. I think if the sandwich prep and the coffee were integrated together and separated from the store operation it would work, but not with the deli staff doing sandwiches part time. Fast sandwich production is not their forte.
