  • This review is on the staffing and customer service I received at this location. My friend was at another location and had told me of a special they were running on a sign there. This location is closer to me so I called and asked if they were running the special at this one as well so I could sign up for a membership. I spoke with Carlos, a manager, who said they were running the special and I could come in that day to sign up. Later that afternoon I stopped in and Carlos was not available, so April was sent over to help me. When I mentioned the special and that I had spoken to Carlos, she told me there was no such special on initiation fees and that the only special they were running was on personal training for members. I was frustrated because the only reason I drove there to sign up was because of that special, which is also why I called beforehand. April said "Carlos isn't here so I don't know what to tell you". She had tried to contact him, but did not receive a response. I told her I no longer wanted to sign up if I was going to have to pay a $149 start up fee and she said "Okay, you can go then". When I asked when Carlos would be returning she told me he wasn't coming back today anymore, but two minutes prior, she had stated she wasn't able to get in touch with him. It is UNREAL that someone who works with customers would speak to me like that. I was taken back and honestly appalled at the way she was speaking to me. She didn't forget to mention that she too was a manager and there was nothing she could do for me. I do not see her listed as a manager on the club website with the other managers. The way I was treated would make me never want to sign up at LA Fitness. I do not appreciate the fact that I called beforehand, was told a lie and then treated like an inferior when I came in. Here's some advice to April and to LA Fitness: don't talk down to your customers, it's rude. That is not the way to get people to sign up. Don't hire employees that have attitude problems with a customer who was looking to get a membership.
