  • Negative stars up the wazoo. We were in the Luxor playing a slot machine near the theater with no intention of seeing the show. A lady came up to us and offered us FREE tickets to that night's show, saying that two of her friends couldn't make it and would we like them. Well, shit, who would pass on that? I would. Face value of tickets= $137.50 each. I said to the wife, let's go to the line for tickets and sell them for $100 each. She said, no, no, no, let's go to the show, we never get to see shows in Vegas (because you can see shows anywhere, but you can't shoot craps, which is why I think she's a bit confused about things. You go to Vegas to gamble. Period.) Well, since I am married and wish to keep my sanity, as well as make life easier, I agree to see the no-financial-cost show. However, I teach economics, so remember.... nothing is free. Everything has a cost. The cost of what you choose to do is what you give up to get it. And in this case, I gave up the chance to do a number of other things that would have been more enjoyable: 1) Gamble 2) Eat 3) People-watch 4) Walk around 5) Drink 6) Watch Chinese soap operas 7) Hit myself in the balls with a claw-hammer 8) Sip the shit out of a duck's ass 9) Eat Ed Begley Jr's fried nutsack .... and so on. My point being, this show was an unbelievably horrific piece of garbage. I am so disgusted with myself for sitting through the whole thing... and it didn't cost us a penny. I saw paying customers get up and leave. I heard more people saying comments like "that really sucked" as we were leaving than I have ever heard in my entire life after a performance. We saw this last summer, and I cannot believe that it is still in business. One of these nights, hopefully, the crowd will indeed rise in righteous anger at the festering load of dung they are being presented with and bum-rush the stage a la peasants chasing after the ogre in fairy-tales, and finally rid the world of this dreck passing as Cirque de Soleil art. To summarize: this show is less than worthless. You are brain-damaged if you decide to spend money on it . You are also a moron if you find yourself in a scenario like I did and give in to your wife instead of doing what you know is right. The silver lining: I can present this as an airtight example of a time when I was "right" (as a man, you get frightfully few of these, and they are as precious as gold.)
