| - I remember coming here nine years ago when I stayed in The Venetian. It was during Happy Hour in the late afternoon, and I sat at the bar with a couple of my friends. Nine years later, I am doing the same exact thing with the same friends. Though, I don't think it was called DB Brasserie then.
We just ordered two items off the Happy Hour menu. The Mussels Gratin baked sweet peppers and parsley and garlic bread crumbs. The mussels were fresh, and most important, cooked extremely well. It was soft and tender and just slightly chewy. The juices from the mussels oozed out that mixed in with the garlic, bell peppers, parsley, and olive oil created a delectable sauce that was herbaceous, earthy, and with a sweet taste of the sea. A very well-prepared, and flavorful dish.
The second item was the Pâté Bourguignon with a frisée salad, homemade pickle, bread, and grain mustard. The Pâté was amazing! It was well-balanced in flavors and very tasty, and it was surprisingly light. The frisée salad was a little overdressed with the vinaigrette causing it to be more sour than bright and fresh. I wish I could just put everything together and eat it like a sandwich lol, but I had to share. Cutting it up, and putting it together still made a very delicious and delectable bite. The bread actually toned down the richness of the pâté and the sourness of the frisée. The mustard added a nice spice and slight bitterness to it. Basically, everything went well together.
The bartender was really friendly and funny. Attentiveness was lacking a bit because it appeared that he not only had to serve the diners at the bar, but also the nearby tables. It wasn't very busy, but he was a conversationalists, so I can see why he takes a while. Luckily another bartender showed up a little later, and got things going.
Overall, I've really just scratched the surface here, and just based on how good these two dishes were, I get a sense that I wouldn't be disappointed at all when I return to dig a little deeper.
