| - I found myself stranded in Madison, Wisconsin when my United airline flight to O'Hare was cancelled during a thunderstorm. I was supposed to retrieve my checked bag from the carousel, hunker down for the next 12 hours somewhere (overnight), and hope to get a flight, along with the many other stranded passengers. I knew Amtrak was not an option from Madison. Another passenger showed me the website for Van Galder with buses leaving almost every hour throughout the night. I just had to catch a lyft to one of the locations. There were a bunch of United refugees already there, but the bus came soon with room for all of us. Ample storage below and overhead bins, WiFi, outlets, and comfy seats. They made 2 or 3 stops to pickup other passengers, but these didn't take long. Van Galder got me to O'Hare hours ahead of my new United flight, for which I received text messages about delays long after being in Chicago. My flight had cost me over $200, + $25 baggage fee; the bus cost only $30.50! If ever I find myself needing to get from Madison to Chicago, I will definitely choose Van Galder.
