  • Our first dinner experience during our vacation in Scottsdale and I think we found the best dining spot of the trip! It's been more than 10 years since we've been to the old Scottsdale area and while some things are the same, it seems the dining scene has improved significantly. Citizen Public House is an example of that. With classic minimalist decor, we felt a comfortable yet energetic vibe from the minute we walked in. The service from the hostess who greeted us to the waiter and bus staff are friendly and eager to make your experience a great one. After a quick tour of the menu and some stellar cocktail selections (the Capital Paloma was amazing) we landed on Crab Cakes and the obligatory Chopped Salad to start. The salad is absolutely a signature dish and their spin on it makes it like no other chopped salad you've ever had. For our main courses, we tried the scallops, short ribs (the parsnip purée on the side was delightful) and a few orders of the short rib tacos. On the side we shared an order of the Mac 'n Cheese - it was delicious with a spicy tomato salsa on top. Honestly, I would return for the salad and that dish alone! We were stuffed but made room for dessert...The Dude Jar and The Heart of Caramel. We thoroughly enjoyed them both. Citizen Public House should make our "Best Of Scottsdale" list for sure.
