| - We came here as a destination for a concert at the Railhead. Not knowing how easy the access, parking, and traffic after the concert would be, we stayed here as well. That ended badly.
The rooms are pleasant enough. The access to self parking is easy, plus it's free. All good so far. Then the bad happens.
We have a room with a door to the adjoining room. The people next door partied until well into the night. It wasn't too out of line, but the sound comes through the door more than a wall. Our room was non-smoking. The other one obviously wasn't. The smoke smell started coming through. It smelled as bad as if we had been smoking in the room. The wife starts getting midly ill from that level of smoke smell. We call the front desk, and the answer is "sometimes that happens" Click. We put out on Facebook about this. Fortunately, a friend who lives in the area, and who we already had a lunch date with, saw it and brought us blue painting tape, air freshener, and a scented candle to put on. We sealed up the door. I should have taken a picture. It turns out he'd used this option in the past to keep smoke of a certain type in the room, and didn't want it to escape. Well, it also kept it out.
After enough hours for the room to air, everything was fine. The rooms don't air out quick because of the sealed windows.
When I filled out the customer survey, I heard back from the hotel management. They acknowledged the incident was unfortunate, and they'd appreciate it if I came back. They did not acknowledge anything was done wrong, or provide any enticement to come back.
In the future, I will stay elsewhere, and just come to the concert. It's a great venue that I will review separately.
