| - As first-time visitors to Pittsburgh, we stopped by here for lunch on our final day of a weekend-long trip. BEST CHOICE WE COULD HAVE MADE. As a seafood lover, I was careful not to hold my expectations too high for land-locked Pitt. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. I think I shed a little tear. It could have been the hunger, too.
The sushi is fresh. The special of the day gave us a good variety of high-end pieces of fish--score! The ingredients swordfish tacos and crab tacos, from the meat to toppings were also amazingly fresh (I consider myself a bit of a fish taco connoisseur, thank you very much), with the hard shell winning over the soft shell. The tacos also came with this homemade chipotle sour cream, a perfect complement!
At the end of our meal, we decided to check out the fish market side of PAFC and saw that they were selling sea urchin (uni--might be an acquired taste for some!). We inquired about the price and found out that they sold for about $12 a head, including gutting and cleaning right there. We watched out tattooed fishmonger delicately peel and scoop out the roe and place six perfectly formed pieces onto a piece of lettuce in a takeout box. Unable to resist, we ate them on the spot, enthralled at the fresh, quality flavors.
I envy you Pittsburgh-ians!
