  • I am a Vegas regular and the Wynn/Encore has always been one of my favourite hotels. I rave to friends/family about this place as to me it has always represented classy luxury-the kind of Vegas experience I am after! I travel to get away for a nice break from it all, and usually the Wynn delivers. My most recent trip was with my family (parents) as they needed a little getaway, too, and I thought why not take them to my favourite hotel? (in recent years I've grown to love the MGM Signature Suites, which IMO is now better than the Wynn--much more private and better service & rooms). It seems like many of my favourite things in life--there is no such thing as "forever". It all began with check-in on a quiet Sunday night (we stayed here 5 nights, in two rooms I booked for us). Usually when I arrive from a long flight i am tired, and simply want to get my keys and go up to my room to freshen up. It is a huge turnoff when you show up with your luggage and family in tow, and you have to stand through a sales spiel to see if you want to upgrade to an even higher priced room than the one you've already booked. NOTE TO THE WYNN: If I wanted a parlour suite I would have booked one, and unless you are giving it to me at a steal I cannot refuse (aka FREE) I am NOT interested. After 20 minutes we finally got keys to our rooms, and they were not as nice as I remembered them. The hallways still look clean and modern, but the interior of the rooms were starting to show their age. Still clean, but the decor that I remembered as modern and easy on the eyes was not dated and still frozen from the era when Wynn was in its heyday. Those days are gone. NOTE TO INTERNET USERS: You only get TWO devices with your $25 plus tax resort fee, and we did have an incident when the system was down. Also we were misinformed at our lovely check-in that you opt out of the resort fee for $15/device instead (ie. if you didn't intend to use the internet/services you did not have to pay the resort fee). We did end up having things clarified at checkout, but it would have been less stressful to not have these issues in the first place. The sheets were as nice as I remember them, but my bed lacked the firmness that it used to have. Instead it sunk badly and I had a bad back by the end of the week. Thank goodness I already had massages booked when I got home--otherwise I would be spending a fortune at the spa to help my poor back! Our room was cleaned nicely (we try not to make much of a mess anyway), and it was only one day when I had to call for them to clean our room). We made use of our $200/room food credit as well, and it was a nice gesture that helped us choose the Wynn. Security was good and you always had to show your room card in the day and evening to get to the elevators. I felt safe and the clientele here are a classy bunch. Would I return? With so many options here the Wynn might still have a chance, but they are slipping. I hope they don't continue slipping, or I will have to say goodbye to one of my favourite getaways.
