Dear Cupcakies,
If you sell a just OK version of something that was on trend, oh, say 10 years ago and you do it in a strip mall in Rocky River, OH, you might want to try the Midwestern charm angle. Even the girls at Prada in New York are nicer than you.
Also, if your hours are posted as 10am to 5pm, try to at least be open for 1/3 of said hours. Getting there at 12pm and being told that you are all sold out is ridiculous. Make enough freaking cupcakes to last throughout the day, or post realistic hours. Making 2 dozen each of 8-10 flavors when that is the only thing you sell is poor planning. Are you trying to create a Melt -like shortage-driven mania?
And it's not as if there are lines around the block because the cupcakes are ZOMG good. They are not. They are merely OK, better than Heinans', not as good as A Cookie and a Cupcake . The cake is a bit dry and there is far too much over-sweetened frosting. The flavors are really good.
If you are going to have tables, try to have a few open for customers to use. Several were covered with spreadsheets (!?!?!) and the rest were covered in boxes and wrappings.
I think I'll just drive to Temont.
