  • When you want to venture out off the strip you must ask one's self: Self? What's poppin' in Vegas? Now your self may say many things, but one thing it may not say is take a trip to Popped, but honestly you'll thank your self for putting together the proposition. In a very mini shopping plaza/business center tucked more towards the Red Rock area sat Popped. It was REALLY off the beaten path and one of those where the fear factor of being eaten alive and no one hearing of you type of deals, but at least I'm here to type it so no shovel to the back of the head for this food aficionado. WHEW! I was warmly greeted by the lone lady braving thus conditions and she did seem into creating an experience for me since I mentioned I was here to test the hype and also tame my love of popcorn goodness. If someone is that excited for that I guess they could come off a bit looney, but hey I never claimed to be playing with a full deck. Ha-ha! At first I gave a shot to the frozen popcorn and I admit next time the experience must be more thought out. I drove all that way to blow smoke through my nose and apparently there is a short window in order to get that full effect. By the time she had handed me the popcorn and I took my picture for Yelp of course I passed the window to get the "steam" effect. I was really a bit upset to keep it fully 100 here and that is one thing you don't tell a customer AFTER. It was easily read on my face I was disappointed, but hey I do know for the future. What I can say is that for gourmet popcorn, the flavor is definitely there. Even well into bringing it home the kernels were still fresh and thankfully flavor to flavor was distinct and not just a repeat of taste as I dove into the other 3 bags I purchased. On a side note, my favorite had to be the pinkadelic. How can you go wrong with poprocks cracking away in your mouth to the taste of marvelous popped corn goodness? It's a win-win and the house can't compete with those odds! All in all, I would be back if I am in the area and even if I'm not I'd go out on a limb and be up to purchasing a bag or two online as well for myself and others. Heaven sakes someone gets left out and has to eat their veggies instead! YUCK!
