| - I'm a Vdara guy. No chain smokers, the rooms are unique-newer and they have an oven so I can make a Trader Joe's chicken pot pie after getting humiliated in the casinos.
Every now and then, I book her distant stepchildren The Mirage or The Signature. Neither can live up to the elder, but stepchildren need love too.
This past trip I realized it had been a couple of years (six trips) since staying at The Mirage, so I fired up my standard One Bedroom Tower Suite. I need the extra space for pacing when I'm drinking alone in between humiliating experiences down the casino floors.
I guess I should thank God I routinely donate a lot of money in Clark County, because the MLIFE Platinum Line saved me a little bit of aggravation. I checked in and the young maiden at registration wrote down B27 (51) on my key packet. Anyone who has stayed in the suites knows that they are A-E and the room number.
Logical to assume my room was B27, but it wasn't. I dragged my baggage back downstairs to the lobby as neither key worked in B27. Said the key worked in the elevator, but not the room. Maiden 2 issued new keys. Back upstairs, they didn't work again.
I called from the hallway because my bulging muscles couldn't carry 50 pounds of luggage down corridors and around slow/obese tourists-in-the-casino-and-through-atrium again. Once I got down there, I basically realized that 'maybe' it was B51 and the 27 could be the floor, but I was down there already. Walked back up to the desk and Non-Maiden (man) tells me, "Oh yeah, they're not supposed to put that 27 on there, guy."
Carry luggage make man strong! I grunted my way back up and found my cove.
That was unfortunate, but my only unfortunate experience, here. I'm laid back and the bell guy was going to be bringing up my 30 pounds of booze that I checked, so how could I be angry?
Well, after a very large vodka-Sprite, I opened my bag and found that TSA had opened up a bottle of agave I bubble wrapped in the suitcase (I like to mix my own cocktails, people...and I can't make simple syrup outside of the Vdara...another bonus). (A) Good to see TSA doing their job by making sure I didn't make an explosive mixture of gun powder and perennial nectar. (B) Bad because they didn't bother to close the lid or re-wrap, so I had sugary sh_t all over my designer Guess, DKNY and Buffalo-Dave Bitton shirts. I was steamin' mad.
The Mirage expedited laundry service was USDA approved, Grade A-Incredible. They cleaned up those bad boys with a quickness and in time for me to look sharp when I headed north to see some of my girlfriends at the Palomino Club. The pricing was incredibly reasonable as well, in all honesty.
The value for this 1200 square foot room is hard to beat. The resort is in a terrific location and the bell / valet services are quick and friendly. That's all a drunkard like myself asks for.
No stains anywhere inside the room or on the curtains and I think my room view was looking out from George Harrison's nostril.
Housekeeping doesn't cut corners and that room is made up almost instantaneously when you push the green button for GO.
I'll be back in a couple years, my dear. Always a pleasure...you're one of the nicer stepchildren a grouchy old bat could ask for, believe you me.
