  • Since Peter Adamo and his business partner split up, there has been a few shake ups at Sense Appeal Coffee. He's now changed the cafe to be called Carbon Coffee Roasters. Pros: Still the god damn best coffee in Toronto. I found this place after I had headache and walked into a promising place for my daily fix. I tried the Turkish Latte and entered Nirvana. I have been hooked ever since. Some of the names of the coffees are pretentious, but they are all delicious, well except the Squash latte (which uses 4 different types of Squash). I buy my beans from here and they are perfect. My family of caffeine addicts now only accepts these beans. But... Cons: The Customer Service here sucks. I get that Peter was remodeling but it would have been nice to put a notice during the weekends that was going on, so that we could know why the store was closed. A bit of courtesy to your clients, no? Like I said I religiously make my way here nearly every week to stock up on beans for the week. It sucks that there is no number I can call to see if the store has sold out of beans, or if they have any still available. The baristas here are such a grumpy lot. Plus I heard one complaining to her client about how tedious Peter was for making such a complex recipe for one of the lattes. Alrighty. I also saw some mini flies in some of the baked goods today. Honestly if the coffee beans weren't so good here, I'd switch to another place in a heart beat. I went by Jimmy's Coffee for the first time. What lovely people. Now only if their beans were as good too.
