  • All too often people who own restaurants focus on the main entree or " center of the plate" and give little attention to the side dishes which are usually okay but an afterthought. This is not the case here. Even the slice of bread given is a rye/pepper? Bread that looks as though it is made especially for this business. Not the usual roll or store bought Texas toast. They also have cornbread but I didn't have it. The baked beans? Several different types of beans, meat and sauce. Delicious. Potato salad with seasoning which raises an eyebrow because it taste good but the average person won't be able to guess how it's made. The flavor unique to this business. I've also had the mac and cheese which was great. The HOMEMADE ROOT BEER is the best I've ever had anywhere. Even better than Virgils Root Beer. I don't drink any soda other than root beer, birch beer or sarsaparilla and I've tried practically every brand made everywhere I've travelled. I'm 60 now and maybe my memory is bad but it is reminiscent of the OLD A&W Root Beer Stands of the 1960's. Before the advent of high fructose corn syrup in beverages. Omg I almost forgot the entrees. After all this; do I have to go on? The sauce is good. The entrees supported by the sides. It's just BBQ? Ha!!! Moist and delicious. I've had the ribs, bone in chicken, pulled pork which were all good. So why 4 and not 5 STARS? Bc it's still just BBQ but well managed, well prepared and well served. I'm glad it's in my neighborhood. Ok... I raved.... now a little rant.... On my last visit I noticed that the bags and kitchen crew were wearing.....FOR THE FIRST TIME IVE SEEN..... Joe's Farm Grill and not Joe's Real BBQ..... I totally dislike Joe's Farm Grille quality and service. SO.... if this is indicative of a change or if they've consolidated I'm deducting stars. First... the bread I raved about and the attention to detail? I got a generic white roll. My chicken was so dry I couldn't eat it. Threw it out. My sides were cold. I will not return. Either there was a change in ownership, management, philosophy or whatever..... the fact that I now associate this horrible experience with a place I totally dislike means I won't give them another chance. It was that bad. My guess.... a change in management to maximize profitability at the cost of quality. Big mistake. If it ain't broke..... I know owners and chefs with big egos who think they can do something better. Sad.... read my review that is like falling off the cliff.
