We (4 gals) literally stumbled upon this place early one morning after a full evening of dining, partying and dancing. We saw a couple of girls head up this curtain flight of stairs next to Lou Dawg's and thought, adventure! Where could this mysterious flight of stairs lead to?
Up the narrow flight of stairs, we ended up at a semi-closed door, next to which was another flight of stairs upon which we saw a pair of hairy legs in shorts belonging to a fella who had passed out. Fortunately, the proprietor of the lounge was at the door talking to the two other people ahead of us and invited us in. What an absolutely splendid and delightful place! Beautifully decorated - the word 'opulent' comes to mind - there were pretty blue velvet coaches to sit on. Maybe it was because it was pass the last drinks hour - the place was empty, and without the offering of alcohol (not their fault, just our Toronto liquor laws), we left.
We came back another night however as I was dying to try out this cool little place. Too bad the service didn't measure up. The website claims it had luxury, which it did, in spades, with prices to back that up. The website also claims that 'mediocre service will not be found here'. Unfortunately, service was mediocre at best. Servers were busy chatting with other patrons. We were approached several times to see if everything was working out, but drinks were forgotten. We received complimentary strawberries and shavings of white chocolate, which was nice. Tasty espressos too. The drinks were just ok to be honest.
For something a little different in the city, give this place a try. I would like to give this place three stars, however, it's a bit hard when we felt ignored, and really, service makes or breaks it for me, even if the place was really pretty.
