| - For what this place is, where it is and what it wants to be, I give it a 3.5 star.
When in Vegas this past week, we had a pamphlet showing the goings-ons for the week and what you must do while in Vegas. Rao's was on that list and I had not been there yet so - OK! We made a reso, no problem and were seated right on time. Nice place (Caesar's Palace and easy to find at the casino exit into the Shops area), the restaurant itself was actually better than the service (think Capone style). I would not call our server unprofessional per se but he had an indescribable edge to him that made us a bit uneasy especially when he would grab a chair and sit with us for a bit?
The food was very good. we shared a meatball (to die for, so moist and the marinara sauce divine), and my spouse had the rigatoni with pancetta, onion, tomatoes. The pasta was well cooked and he gave it a 4 out of 5. My linguini with clams was a 5. For me, it is hard for anyone to give me perfect pasta as I am picky and I despise overcooked pasta especially when at a restaurant, you pay a premium for such a cheap dish (for the house). The clams were great, only found 1 broken shell. The garlic wine sauce was fantastic, not too heavy and just enough of it. Well seasoned.
Drinks were good but pricey.
I expected the bill to be a bit heftier overall, but we were pleasantly surprised.
Would I come back here? Vegas is a foodie Mecca and there are just too many other places to go and try so, no.. But I would not dissuade anyone else from coming here for the love of Italian food!
