  • Hem's is your typical local bar for the Oakland Area. During the day, you can find lots of university affiliates dining here, and during the evening/night, you can find lots of students. I like Hem's, because it's good cheap food. I normally frequent here during $5 Hem's lunch. Usually, the waiter/waitress will allow you order up to 12:05pm even though it technically ends at noon. There's a large room in the back which is great for groups so this is especially convenient. You may be surprised, but they have a really delicious summer strawberry salad. I believe another review referenced this, but Hem's is like a rite of passage where students who turn 21 get their horns.
