I flew all the way from Vancouver to visit a friend and picked this weekend to see a show I was really excited about. The show was cancelled the day of, and I did not know until I arrived at Republik to find it dark and closed. There was no sign on the door and when I phoned the venue right then and there, no one answered and there was no voice message to explain. Thanks to smart phones we found a web page that announced the cancellation. Really -- how hard is it to put a note on the door when you decide to close the venue up tight on a saturday night. And were there no local bands to call in as a "sorry" to those who made an effort to go see an awesome band. I don't expect a lot from live music dumps, but this was a new low to hit.
