| - This post is written based on my direct experience and interaction with the beginner instructors.
Instructors: Friendly, Knowledgeable, Accommodating
Lesson Horses: Variety - challenges the rider to adjust and learn
Rings & Jumps: Multiple, Various to accommodate experience levels
How well the instructors know the horses: Extremely well
Lesson Times: Flexible (at your own pace)
I was referred by a friend after my daughter (9yrs old at the time) expressed an interest in riding. I knew nothing about horses or horse riding and did not do any research before deciding to give Crossroads a try almost 2yrs ago. I don't regret that decision one bit. Today, my daughter is a "Confident Rider" and looks forward to her weekly lessons. The beginner instructor, Joann Bender, is A - MAZE - ING!!! She has a way of connecting, earning the rider's trust and commitment while building their self-confidence.
In the early stages, we visited other stables for lessons, while continuing with Crossroads - none of them measured up to Crossroads. The instructors weren't as patient nor did they offer the education (horse grooming and etiquette) prior to riding. You'll learn to respect the process when you choose to book your lesson with Crossroads; don't expect to jump on a horse without doing the pre-work and there's a cool down after the ride which could include poo clean-up. Should you choose to compete in shows, Crossroads will do what it takes to ensure you are successful.
Currently, we receive instruction from both Haley Reeves and Joann Bender, as both offer a different perspective for my daughter - which in turn, makes her a better rider. I am pleased with both instructors and will continue to allow my daughter to train with Crossroads until she tells me she is ready to move on.
