| - My home warranty company recommended Air Standards to provide service to my AC unit. I believed the unit was running inefficiently and had hoped an AC company could help figure out why my bill had suddenly increased by nearly double. While this is not uncommon in AZ during the summer, it's uncommon for my home, indicating that something was wrong.
Air Standards was prompt in setting up an appointment (for the next day) and were on time to the appointment, however, I don't believe they actually took the time to listen to the issue and attempt to suss out the true problem. Their invoice contains none of the types of data and figures expected when dealing with an AC unit- and certainly nothing that allows me to track the data they took over time to see if their solution actually addresses the issue. Unfortunately, I was not home at the time of service (my mother and boyfriend were), so I couldn't speak with the technician personally. When I called to get more information, I spoke to Dave, who gave me the runaround and then told me that with home warranty calls such as mine, they "don't really go over things with a fine tooth comb."
I find that kind of attitude disappointing, as was their service, and frankly they're still getting paid regardless of who writes the check. I can't speak to the service they provide customers paying out of pocket, but to other home warranty holders out there, I'd recommend you request a different service provider from your warranty company. Many will let you select one of your own or can at least provide a different company if you request one.
