| - I'm not sure what this place is supposed to be, but it is definitely not ideal for dog boarding. My fiancé called it "doggy jail" and I'm inclined to agree.
We dropped off our dog for a 4-day stay. We were immediately thrown off by the sound of dogs constantly barking. We get it, there's other dogs around, but it reminded us of a shelter. Honestly, I've been to quieter dog shelters.
My fiancé brought her back to the kennels himself. He immediately noticed that the beds brought by owners were on top of the kennels and not inside where the dogs were. The kennel our dog was brought into still had feces from who knows how long. He said it smelled like urine--that hasn't been cleaned up. There's no outdoor area for them, so unless you pay extra for daycare, your dog won't see the light of day. We paid extra for daycare.
We brought her blankets to lay on top of the bed, but there was no bed in sight. When he asked about the dog beds being provided as advertised on their website, the guy working there said they've been busy and haven't had time to put them out. Ok, fine.
When we asked about providing a bed at the front, the receptionist said they don't have beds. Then we said "but your website said it's part of the boarding." She retracted it and asked if our dog chews up beds and we immediately said no. I guess they just assume your dog chews everything so they don't bother providing it. Whatever.
We told them that our return flight lands 30 minutes prior to their closing and wanted to know if we can get our dog and pay the late fees. Their response was "Sorry, we don't do that." Apparently, it's because no one will be there after closing, despite the owner living a few feet away (or so they say). Our option was to pick her up the day after we return before 1pm so we're not charged for that day.
Fast forward to her last day. We asked my father-in-law to get her because we just couldn't stand the idea of her staying there any longer. When we picked her up from his house, she was whining constantly. Her food baggies were empty, but my father in law said she was hungry when he took her home so he fed her. He also mentioned that she was damp when he picked her up, so they probably did a quick flea bath when he got her. Speaking of, the smell of the bath was overwhelming and lasted a couple of days after. When we brought her home, we laid her on her back and noticed that her entire underside area (from neck to lower abdomen) and her front legs were red from irritation. This led us to believe that she slept on the concrete floor and no bed was provided nor were her blankets even used.
We're saddened that this place does not appear to care for these dogs as well as they should. I would never bring her back here and would never recommend anyone to bring their dogs to be boarded here. Highly upsetting and disappointing.
