  • I should tell first that I am a physician and therefore would not like to ruin the carrier of a dentist irrationally. And I should say I have nothing to say against the technical skills of Dr. Spatz as I have only had a short experience with him and cannot judge him in that regard. However I would like to warn you when it comes to the payment issues to be careful and very diligent when you are dealing with him. I had a root canal done 1 week prior to moving out from Pittsburgh, and I only needed a crown placed which could have been done non-urgently after I moved to the new place and had new insurance. I preferred that as I was approaching the maxim allowances from my insurance. As he was very close to our home in Pittsburgh, and he cleaned my wife's teeth couple of times I only check with him and his office that if a Crown needs to be placed with my current plan how much I should take out of pocket. Linda who worked there at that time (now is not there anymore), calculated and assured me that I should pay 342$ and the rest (almost 400) will be paid by my insurance. I confirmed that I would not like to pay more after I pay the 340$ as I will have a new plan in couple of weeks which would will allow me much more coverage. However I was assured this is the amount I am paying and we are done. However I got letter and letter months after I left Pittsburgh and my balance is due for 170$. First nobody calls you back after leaving messages(and with my work it is hard to find a free minute to call their office during working hours), finally I could a get a hold of new office manage (Julie), who has no idea about what happened and keeps telling me that I should pay. I finally agreed that I will pay part of that to settle the case as I am a Doctor and I don't want to argue more with a colleague. She said ok, and I asked her to send me a receipt mentioning that I don't have any overdue. But in 2 months I got the letter that I still owe them the rest! I called, asked to talk to Dr. Spatz, of course nobody calls back, and when I finally talked to Julie she tells me that Dr. Spatz asked her to handle the case and that he does not want to talk to me. This is of course not professional and is against the collegiality. I don't' have anything against the office manage as she is doing what she is told to keep trying to cash the money for the office. But at the end I warn you if you want to deal with Dr. Spatz and his office in long-term.
