| - Don't be skeptical, the reviews are true.
You have many, many options when it comes to your hair. It's important to do your research.
That being said, I chose Something You based on their amazing reviews.
I'm not overly picky when it comes to my hair, but I do like to find a stylist and stick with him/her for as long as possible. I'm not a stylist hopper, so I took choosing a new hair salon very seriously.
I arrived on Saturday afternoon just before my 3pm appointment and was greeted right away by the very friendly Front Desk Coordinator, Bailee.
She asked me if I wanted anything to drink and had me fill out a new client card. There was even a little sweet table near the entrance that I opted to forgo, but it sure did catch my eye.
I sat down in the comfy reception area and browsed the Aveda products. Kudos to the salon's interior decorator(s)! I love how the products kind of blend in like decor, rather than stand out as products that scream, "buy me! buy me!" It also doesn't hurt that Aveda products are very reasonably priced.
Carmen came out shortly thereafter and welcomed me. Such a friendly and outgoing person! She asked me a lot of questions about my hair, but based on her bio and reviews I was pretty confident she could do whatever she wanted, without me having to say anything at all, and it would look great. She gave me a good trim and I'm satisfied with the way things turned out.
I chose two complimentary services (scalp massage & hot towel) and we scooted over to the shampoo bowl. I loved that the shampoo bowls sit up much higher than I'm used to. I didn't feel like I was having to do a backbend just to get my head in the bowl.
Carmen and I chatted during my entire 45 minute visit. Having just recently moved to the area, Carmen gave me lots of restaurant recommendations, as well as a few other things to do. It's amazing what we chatted about during my appointment!
I noticed a sign on the mirror at Carmen's station that said she received a raise on June 1, so her prices were increasing. The sign was visible, but understated. I actually thought this was a fabulous way for the owner to publicly recognize Carmen's work. Carmen is very clearly valued as an employee; the workplace would be a far better one if we all had bosses who appreciated & rewarded us this way. :)
I left finding out that my first haircut was complimentary and they even had an adorable gift bag ready for me with my name handwritten on a welcome note. I like that they included a current price list as well.
The little envelopes available at the front desk for tips is a genius idea, too. How often do we want to leave tips for someone only to find out we can't give the tip to the person directly? This takes the guesswork out of whether or not your stylist is actually getting your tip. You can write her name on the envelope and rest assured it's going to her.
The salon is very modern and well-maintained. It's obvious there's a certain expectation here to keep things in tip-top shape and I think that's great.
I'm telling you, they have all details covered. It's the special little touches like the welcome bag and complimentary services that keep clients like me coming back. I set up another appointment for the end of the summer.
Friendly reminder text the day before. Free WiFi.
Hopefully this review encourages more new clients. I know you'll love what you find.
Thanks, ladies.
